Chasing Pavements

(desire to inspire, tumblr)

Those images are all what lead me to take interest in interior design. I was so set on fashion, like obsessed with it. I remember in my course 1 clothing class I would always draw up outfits I wanted to put together. Then I found desiretoinspire.net. I looked through the pictures and was in awe. I never noticed how fricken cool interior design was. Growing up I always thought it was just painting, picking out furniture, finding accessories (candles, afghans, lighting fixtures, etc.) But now I realize it's so much more than that. It's designing a place people want to live in. It's like finding a mood and projecting it in a room so when people are in that room they feel the mood meant to be felt. It's art, only in the form of walls, floors, furniture, and everything else. Just like fashion. Then I started looking at architecture and that is genius. I guess I just didn't realize all the forms of art out there. And I'm so stoked to go to college and see all there is to do with your life (whether art be included or not.) Anyway, I'm rambling. I really just wanted to show off those super cool pictures. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

all I see are stilettos, I guess I never got the memo.

I feel so distant from blogs/blogging. I've been so busy down the shore doing nothing. Just relaxing on the beach a.k.a. my absolute favorite place. I'm super excited to go surfing for the first time on thursday (is it difficult?) Lessons are by this surf shop in downtown OC which sells all the main surf and skate brands like Billabong, Volcom, Roxy, O'neill, Hurly, Lost, Split, and Rip Curl, (to name a few) but then they also sell Free People, RCVA, and a bit of their own stuff as well. It's the perfect mix of clothes, which brings me to my favorite website. Swell.com. They sell all the beach brands and surf gear, only since their situated in San Clemente, CA, they sell it all year round. As far as I know it's just an website, but maybe they have some stores out in cali. They used to have this featured stylist thing, where you would mail in your fashion inspiration(s) in any form and if you were selected, you would get to pick your favorite items from their website and get 1% of the profits for the month. I guess they got rid of it now, cause I can't find it on the website.

s-lush

I recently discovered Lush cosmetics, thanks to seeing many posts about it on other blogs. I'm contemplating whether or not I should spend cash I don't have, to scoop up some of these hand-made, organic products. Oh, and I forgot to mention Lush doesn't test their products on animals, making me vote yes to ordering some facial cleansers and maybe even a toner tab or two. Toner tabs are probably the coolest things ever:

I've never heard of anything like that before but I'm so excited to try it out!

hey bey

This summer is starting to be okay. I had the best weekend, and yesterday I got a manicure for my vaykay coming up. china glaze is by far my favorite nail polish brand. it just goes on so silky and looks exact. and i guess it helps that they have refreshingly unique colors.
it's official: my sisters web cam sucks. and it's a brand new computer. her's is a dell. mine is (was?) a dell. with all the complications I've had with dell I'm definitely not going to be a PC when i go off to college.
anywaze: my latest obsession is these YSL platform pumps.

I feel like if I had these shoes I would never take them off because they can match perfectly with so many things. and even if they didn't match I would still wear them to get the extra lift with the 4-inch heels. Speaking of Yves Saint Laurent, have you seen resort2010?

style.com

I feel kind of ignorant of the english language when I use the same adjectives over and over again,

but I can't think 0f anything better or more me. TO THE ABOVE....amazing.

note:

Annie Sez has Free People for cheap and Steve Madden out the bum. I LOVE.

UH. I'm not really into posting pictures since I'm not photogenic AT ALL. And my 3 mega-pixel camera pretty much sucks. I've been eying up this baby for weeks. But, I figured I'd show off my latest creation to blog world. That skirt was my own rendition of the sophomore zipper skirt from the fall 08 collection. Since it was 104 bucks at Bona Drag and I don't have a job, I thought "hey, why not make it?" The pattern was vogue and I should have known that the sizes run small. The triangle wasn't planned. It was added because my diet attempts all fail and the zipper didn't zip up all the way. I swear I seam ripped it out at least 3 or 4 times. But in the end I was happy with it.

shirt: wet seal, skirt: handmade, jewelry: forever 21.

neon

Besides the fact that this Michael Kors dress is neon pink and cashmere, I also adore it's slouchy long sleeves. If I had $995.00 I would hop in the car right now and drive 2 hours to Bergdorf's. (Maybe I should wait till I pass my permit test?) But I don't have 1k to spend on a dress. And I probably never will. My point being, that dress is to die (and drive without a license, permit, or any drivers experience) for.

Drake "Best I Ever Had" from kwest on Vimeo

No effence to Kanye, love since grade 8. But this video makes no sense. 1) There is too much clevage accompanied by slow motion. Pervz much?. 2)The video didn't really have anything to do with the song. A basketball team? 3) I was expecting some usher confessions part 3 shit. poundin on walls, or maybe even my boo, like a love story (def not tayswift). But DEFINITELY not some weird-o music vid. I'll be buying Drake's debut album, but I'll skip the DVD bonus.
songs worth listening to: ransom- drake ft. lil' wayne, successful- drake ft. trey songz.

borders books and NO music

At the beginning of the summer I went to Borders to get my summer reading book. The problem was, once we got there, the store didn't have those convenient racks of binders with all the local school's summer reading lists. Luckily, I knew it was the sequel to the book 'Year of Wonders' by Geraldine Brooks. So we go to the fictional shelf and I see the book 'March' and I pick it up. Just as I'm about to leave I see a trazillion and two more books by her out my periffs. So I didn't know what to do. After staring at the back of the book for 6 minutes, I put it down and walked away. (It's okay. Now I can get it a week or so before school starts, like the other slackers, and die trying to write an essay. I'll remember it better, right?) So, I'm at borders I might as well look around at what once was my favorite place. I say once because they took the music out and replaced it with an expanded cafe. Don't get me wrong, I love my mudslide freezes. I even applied for a job at the cafe a year or so ago. But it's called Borders Books and Music for a reason. Now, they're going to have to replace the sign. Loosing money here, people! Anyways!@#$ I come across this clearance rack of hard cover books and staring at me was this:

Jamie Drake's 'New American Glamour'

"It's always wonderful when you can truly let your imagination go wild. But it's even more exciting when you find the stuff that your dreams are made of."

Opening page. Some cute sketches.

You can't see this in the picture but there is a textured lamp. Alltheway on the left side, see it? Yea, it rules. And the charcoal walls with the pink accents. Another thing you can't see, on the table there is a bowl of marsh mellows. MHM. Marsh mellows! Like, hey guests enjoy some homemade hors d'oeuvres . I call them cloud puffs. Is that thing considered a chandelier?

Mythology seats (Well what did you think they were?)
I wouldn't mind sitting in one. If only for an uncomfortable moment.

Victorian curtains and a lovely wall mural.
I wonder how loud you would have to talk for the person at the other end of the table to hear you. I would get away with so many insults under my breath.

Despite the lighting being a teensy bit scary, it's a brilliant idea and pleasing to my eyes.

This makes me love the color peach. The cow ottoman looks heart-shaped, no? but I think it's more of a three sided figure of some sort.

Not sure which ottoman I love more.

Gossip Girl-y foyers.

I think the plants make this.

Originally $45.00. Three freakin ninety nine. Really? Yes, really. Then behind it I found this beauty:

Inside:

These wallpapers remind me of the murals at Hotel Fox in Copenhagen. The idea was to recreate the hotel. With the help of 21 unique artists, 61 rooms were created. And boy, are they crazy. Click the link and take a look. Definitely worth looking at.

Textured wallpaper. I would draw notes on them like post-its.

New York Stock Exchange wallpaper. It cracks me up!

This book was $4.99 so I mean, of coarse I had to get it. So in the end I go home without my summer reading book and two design books. Then I go online to get the name of the book and whadiya know. It's 'March' by Geraldine Brooks.

Stupid instincts.
